Alexandra Ricou

Born and raised in Somerset in the South West of England, Alexandra is a professional actor, writer and drag artist. Based between Somerset and London, they are passionate about championing LGBTQIA+ work and exploring classical texts in new, inclusive forms. As an actor, they are represented by ML International Talent.

After graduating from the University of Warwick with a BA (Hons) in English Literature, Alexandra went on to train professionally as an actor at Mountview. Over the course of their studies, they performed in productions of Shakespeare’s The Comedy of Errors, Bryony Lavery’s Frozen and Margaret Atwood’s The Penelopiad. They achieved a distinction grade for their MA project which focused on animal studies and the performance of animal characters in theatre.

Since entering the creative industries as a professional performer, Alexandra has performed across the UK and in Italy. They have worked on new writing projects that have performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and Brighton Fringe Festivals, and collaborated on new interpretations of Shakespeare’s work that have performed at the RSC’s Dell Theatre. Their own writing projects have been produced at numerous new writing events hosted in performance spaces including the Royal Court and The Space in London.

Since 2021, they have been a member of the award-winning street theatre company, the Natural Theatre Company. Their skills in improvisation, devising new work and characters has gone from strength to strength through their work with the Naturals, and they have performed with them at Glastonbury Festival, the Jane Austen Festival and the National Trust.

As a workshop facilitator, they have worked in the UK, the USA and Italy. Working with children, young adults and adults, Alexandra has provided workshops in both formal educational and informal extra-curricular settings.
